Determination of incidence of Ascaris suum in backyard pigs in the municipality of Pasaquina, department of La Unión

Abstract
In El Salvador, traditional pig farming has become an important source of income for many families dedicated to pig production. However, this type of farming lacks adequate facilities and sanitary standards for raising pigs for human consumption. Although in recent years greater importance has been given to viral and bacterial infections in technical and non-technical pig farms, intestinal parasites, such as Ascaris suum, continue to have a significant economic impact, which is why in this article we present the incidence according to the stages of Ascaris suum in feces of backyard pigs, in a geographical area of the municipality of Pasaquina, department of La Unión. Using a longitudinal prospective research approach, a group of participants were followed and observed over a period of time in order to collect information and record results. of pig farms that comply with hygiene and biosafety measures, raising pigs in optimal conditions for human consumption. However, backyard pig farming that does not comply with these measures and whose products are sold in homes and municipal markets was also taken into account.
